Safety And Window Cleaning

When you go to a window cleaning job you always want to have safety on your mind. Not only for your own well being but for your customers as well. The last thing you want is to damage someone’s property or have someone get injured. If you are practicing safe techniques and applications to all aspects of your window cleaning operation, you should be able to keep accidents to a minimum.

I have had a few accidents over the years and luckily no ones property or person got damaged. However it was enough to make me rethink how I do things. The first accident I had in Carlsbad window cleaning was when I left a ladder up against a second story home. They had a retractable awning and while I was inside cleaning they asked if it was ok to extend the awning. I of course forgot about the ladder and said ok. So when the awning went out, it knocked over the ladder. It could have hit their fence or worse a person, but I got lucky and it just landed in the grass.

I have also fallen while walking with a ladder before when doing San Diego window cleaning, which hurt pretty bad. It’s pretty important to be aware of your surroundings and your path when walking with the ladder. Another ladder accident happened when my rope was becoming to brittle and snapped on me when I was trying to make it descend. I could have lost some fingers and broke a window but I was able to move my hand away fast enough and it bounced off the window instead of breaking it.

Another time while doing Escondido window cleaning I had my ladder set up at a bad angle on a sloped hill and my ladder slid out from beneath me. Luckily it stopped after a few feet and I was able to get down before it slid some more. It also ended up against the glass as I was descending, I was lucky not to break my neck or the customers window.

You need to constantly be thinking of how to be safe when doing Oceanside window cleaning, even when you think you are doing everything the right way accidents can happen. Never go up a ladder if its not safe, don’t risk it to make a few bucks. It’s better to walk away from the money then to risk losing everything. You should never get in a hurry either, this is when most accidents will happen as you throw caution to the wind in order to save time.
